Sundown Marathon!!

Finally came back from sundown... torturing man, running marathons, now left me with overused legs which cannot perform daily tasks properly... haha. But the sense of acheivement... Priceless!! I'm a marathoner now... keke

We met up 6.30pm at whitesands for early dinner so we got ample time to digest. BUT, as usual... punctuality isn't a virtue among my friends... so by the time we meet, its already 7.30pm. Who were there? Aston, OMP, Zongren, Mingkiat, Muzhong and me... We needed moltivation for the gruelling run later so we went Lerk Thai for dinner. (YES!! Thai food!! Crazy rite... not scare lau sai... dun care) Paul who was suppose to join us is fucking late as usual... reached almost ard 9pm... sorry, gotta eat by himself coz we were almost done. After dinner, the rest of the gang joined us so we could all take the shuttle bus in.... Leonard, Weiye and a fren, Siswi and qiming, Weesen, Marcus... Total 14 of us...

We took the bus, feeling on the bus is juz like going to book in to tekong during bmt... same route.. haha, nostlagic... I have never seen changi Village so crowded... so much crazy ppl joining marathon, singapore nuthin to play liao... so all turn to self torture... haha. The place is chaotic partly due to the reason its at night, ppl couldn't really find 1 another... As we waited for the kick off, psychotic ultramarathoners were streaming in for their 2nd round... fast...

Here's a pic of us before race starts.

We proceed to the start off point, fast runners in front, slow runners behind, we juz lined almost near the end of the q, no point squeezing infront, coz timing oni starts when we cross the starting gantry. When the run was kicked off, it took us a whole 4 mins to reach the starting gantry, can you imagine how much siao kias? Initially i ran with weesen, but soon he pulled away, too early for that... then OMP came up and we ran together, gd pace, gd progress, and i thought this marathon would be very gd timing if we maintained this pace. For the first 10km, it was humid and warm, plus its 12am, i was getting sleepy, vision was dizzy with all the thousands of heads popping up and down in front of me, but dun care, juz go through motion, juz run... It was all doin gd till the 20km point where both me and OMP experience cramps on the thigh together... WTF!!! 20km!!! Can you believe it?? Nabei, kan sian... We pulled up along the side to stretch... Wasn't much use, there's no time for recovery at all... Dunno isit due to the fact we never do warm ups and stretches before the run, but i never had the habit of stretch before any run... sway lah...

22km more to finishing line and we are handicapped... Nevermind, we change tactic.. we walked fast till the cramp gets better then we started running till it cramps again then we stop to stretch, walk till it gets better then run till it cramps again... Leonard caught up with us then... told me to eat my powergel, it might help, well i thought, why not try since i oso never eat before... i juz reach out for any 1 packet with me(i had 3 different flavours, chocolate, orange and strawberry banana) opened it up and start eating... wah lau... taste horrible... phui!! manage to force half packet down my throat and its was my best flavour - orange... I will never take the other 2 packets liao.... Didn't help for my cramps... told leonard to go ahead, after a while OMP's cramp worsen, i went ahead oso... i looked at my watch, and it was at the 25km mark... 17km more, i calculated that if i can do every km below 10 mins, i'm still in gd time to come in below 6Hours... so change of tactics... I ran till cramp, skipped the stretchings, immediately quick walk, first few minutes sure limping due to the cramp but dun care... pressed on, walk till the cramp got better, then ran till cramp again while keeping a tight watch out for the timings... drank up at every water station. Each km seemed so much further than what i perceive 1 km would be... haiz...
Continued using the tactic till the end of the race, finally at the last 500m, i gave my all burst in... then... kana snooked... wah lan eh... there's a detour of 300 meter to the finishing point.... @#$%^& my legs max liao... stop to walk abit more... coz thats the lifespan of my legs before the cramps took over... walked ard 150m then burst again, finally finshed the damn marathon... collected finisher tee and finisher medal immediately after finishing point... *Muacks Muacks*

This is what they looked like.

Found a gd spot near the finishing to look out for the others... As we waited for the rest to come in, we were wowing at the ultramarathoners coming in at the 13th hour, 14th hour... there are several uncles in their fifties... psycho man... 50 plus still join ultramarathon?! Respect man...
Saw eric, raymond and eden at the finishing as they came in... crazy eden's shoe's sole both detached during 20km point and he ran barefooted for the next 22km... crazy man!!! You shd haf seen his feet... tattered socks and all... wah lau... we were all like: "WAH!!! YOU RAN BAREFOOTED AH??? SIAO AH!!!" Respect him for the spirit too...

Distance: 42km
Timing:
Leonard - 5:39:39
Me - 5:44:28
OMP - 5:57:36
Qiming - 6:10:45
Siswi - 6:17:59
Muzhong - 6:25:42
Weesen - 6:56:35
Mingkiat - 7:25:45
Josephine - 7:29:41
Aston - 7:39:39
Paul - 8:51:25
Zongren - 9:07:03

Weiye fall out halfway, wasn't in gd condition from the start, got breathing difficulties during the run, marcus fell out, bad joint till unable to finish the run as well... But i really gotta respect Paul and zongren, for running that amt of time... its not easy man... imagine cardio non stop for 9Hours... scary...

This is us after the run...

10km Run this week

1 Week before sundown... didn't wana over train or risk anything so we decided today will be a short run - 10km.

Same time same place at ECP, we waited for siswi and bf who ran from home to meet us and the always late Paul... We had a special guest appearance today too - Pearl, Muzhong's wife which is oso my sec classmate... She came to walk as exercise due to special reasons (gd news) that she couldn't take part in vigourous exercises...

We started running once everyone has arrived, when we reach mac area, it was the kick start of passion run as well... wah lau sibeh chway lang... we oso dun care haha, juz ran within the passion run and clock our own 10 km... Along the run i spotted Ken( Saucony Salesman) already walking not too far from the starting point... haha, called him up to suan him...

Attendance today, Leonard and Khim, Zongren, Paul, Muzhong and Pearl, Siswi and Qiming, Mingkiat and Wife, lastly, me...

Distance: 10km
Timing:

Me: 53min
Leonard: 1Hour
Khim: 1H2min (approx 8.5km)
Muzhong: 1H4min
Zongren: 1H17min
Mingkiat: 1H19min
Paul: 1H28min (overshot to bedok jetty...duh...)

OMP is absent coz went to chiong last night, so old liao still do this kind unhealthy activities... unbecoming... tsk tsk

Since this is Pearl's virgin appearance, heres a pic of me and her taken on the day...

Sundown Marathon Racepack

Went to collect my Sundown racepack on sat at Millenia Walk, advise from my friends who participated was to collect early to avoid running out of sizes for the singlets. Earliest i could go is sat noon coz i'm only back from sailing in the morning...

Its wasn't really crowded when i reached, they had plenty of counters so waiting time was less than 5 mins... had a few booths on promotion by athlete's circle... of coz the price wasn't nearly as cheap as you would expect.

The singlet looks quite nice but the cutting damn fucked up... I took several measurements against my own adidas singlets to make sure i got the correct size base on the info posted on the sundown site... but after all the effort, still too small... the M feels like compression tights. Found out from Siswi that can swap sizes due to availablilty, mai tu liao... Immediately make another trip down to change, no more L, change to XL instead.... dun care... came home try it out, it fits nicely except for the length which is a tad longer but still better than tights... damn gay... If XL fits me nice, cannot imagine Weesen wearing L...

Quickly called up my friends who joined that changing is allowed, most of them oso victims of screwed up measurements. Haiz... hope the finisher tees are better...

Here's what in the race pack:

No no no... reis and cadis are not part of the racepacks... they are mine in house part time models...

Cadis

This is Cadis... My family's nonstop chatterbox...

I was watching blade 2 juz now in the afternoon, she sat beside me with 1000 whys... then she continued babbling non stop, dunno what she's babbling about, singing.... blah blah blah...

Then after that i bring her along to fetch jess, in the car... again another session... babbling, singing... really an energizer bunny...

Here's 1 of the dialogue:

Cadis: Daddy, you drive properly, if not wait my telephone fall off. (Her toy hp)
Me: Then you hold your phone properly loh...
Cadis: Later my telephone fall off i go home cane you so hard until you cry.
Me: Huh?? You can cane me meh?
Cadis: When i grow up loh... Then i will cane you so hard until you cry.
Me: ... ... ... *buay tahan*

Here's another...

Me: Darling, you like to sit in my car anot?
Cadis: Yes. Jie jie dun like to sit in your car.
Me: Why? Why jie jie dun like to sit in my car?
Cadis: Becoz you always turn here turn there thats why jie jie dun like to sit your car loh.
Me: Then you like?
Cadis: Yes... I like you to drive very fast...

*Continue talking non stop till we picked Jess

Finally, someone to appreciate my car...

Then after picking Jess, we went railway mall Cold storage... wah lau eh... another round.... Its full of "Daddy I want this!!" "Daddy i want that!!"

We bought the gals 6 packs of chocolate milk, and she starts pestering that she wants to drink.. So Jess told her that she can only drink it after dinner...
Suddenly she exclaims:

Cadis: DADDY!!!!!! YOU FORGOT TO EAT DINNER!!!!!!
Me: *Laughing* Not now, we will eat when the sun's down...

awhile later in my car,

Cadis: Daddy, where are we going?
Me: Home
Cadis: Nooooo, i wan to eat dinner...

Even till now as i'm typing, she's pestering us to eat dinner now...
All........ Juz for a packet of chocolate milk...

So, can you blame me for the love of irritating them whenever i get the chance...
I'm juz goin to do it rite now... kekeke

25km, Finally

Finally completed my 25km successfully this morning, though slow but at least complete... now confidence regain a weeny bit, haha...
This dead slow pace was infuriating for the first 10km or so... but as you run, it gets more steady... but for long distances muz really keep talking to keep your mind occupied... I was talk to muzhong non-stop until he decided to give up at the 22.5km point, so i opened up for the last part, after last weeks thigh abrasion, this week i wore tights within, haha, no unnecessary distractions... try my new pair of wright socks, suppose to help in prevent blisters and keeping feet dry, well today my feet were indeed dry but i think the tights did most of the job so my sweat doesn't stream down.

Attendance very poor today, only me, muzhong and OMP... and OMP did only 10km, he now very scare to run long distance liao after he realises his kneecaps are bloody loose.. and trust me.. they ARE loose... But aiyo so old liao still scare this scare tat everything no need do liao... keke... I'm bad company...

Distance: 25km
Timing:
me - 3H2min
muzhong - 3H15min

1 more badminton trophy to my collect on fri, the INTRA MSTF Badminton Tournament. 182/9 got 1st, beating the other teams... This year's competition not as stiff as previous years, many of our gd players went over to fleet and other formation... so for Inter RSN, jialat liao lor... Hope for the best...

*Hanrence is finally awake, hope he recovers fast and join us back onboard soon.

30000km Servicing

Took leave to service my car today, nowadays pai mai, service car oso need to take leave, unlike last time still got windows of rest within the week... Well, fortune changes... "Change... is the only constant."

Before i go for servicing, i went for a run at WCP in the morning, i clocked 21mins today, my best so far, but with a price... now my back hurts, i think partially due to the weights session yesterday, might had strained without noticing. Now like old man, haha... Age is really catching up.

Went MR for servicing, during the servicing, found out my modified drain plug (Modified with integrated defi oil temp sensor) showed signs of crack... so lan lan gotta change to an adaptor, waiting for the adaptor to arrive alone took almost 2 hours, sibeh hungary liao... As i waited, MR is now flooded with GTRs, when i got my CTR, everytime i go, i see CTRs... today, only 3 CTRs but 6 GTRs.... wah lau... no need money ah. *Envy envy*
By the time the adaptor arrived (Delivered by james in his GTR), and the rest of the servicing completed, it was almost 3pm liao... Wah spent 4 hrs+ there...
The bill costed me almost $400!!
Servicing with Motul 300V - $185
Labour for MTF change (I brought mine coz i got leftover) - $30 (Wah thats very ex for a drain and fill)
Works Engineering Oil Temp/Press Adaptor - $150 (Wah this sandwich market price so high one meh)
And after GST its $390.55 *Faint* 30000km servicing cost so much??

The mechanics at MR i gotta praise is really meticulous, you see them work you can tell your car is in gd hands. But for my previous cars, i dun really go performance workshops... In this case coz the motul oil alone if i buy it off the shelves is damn costly, making it bo hua to buy and go to my usual workshop for servicing. But the difference is that for my usual workshop, topping up of steering fluid, coolant etc etc all normally foc but at performance workshops, everything counts... got gst summore...

Check the price for toda extractors as well, still high at $2150 although yen fell a little... cannot lah buay tahan liao, everytime go there for servicing sure end up afew hundred dollars... I NEED MOTUL OIL LOBANG!!! WHO HAS?? Let me know.

Erratic Weather

The stupid weather has disrupted my running greatly nowadays... Not only weather, work as well... Today's 20km was off because i initially had to report back for duty, but last minute resume back to standby... so oso cannot run, coz if run halfway kana activated sure cannot make it back in time...
So i ran at WCP instead, planned 10km but halfway, skies turned dark, saw some rain, forced cut my run at 5km... then knn till now still dark sky without rain... tiuz...

Recently kana sports commitee for MSTF, initially thought organize badminton only, how bad can it be? Then as i attended the meetings, wah!! A whole big pile of shit is uncovered!! This time siao liao... And thanks to OMP who advertise that germaine and me runs alot, now we oso kana running club, X-country and all running shit.... @#$%^&* 191, better take me fast!!

Went sailing on thurs, it was an expensive sailing... Jess helped me buy a gift for my wife(which is her) while i'm sailing... 2k poorer now, thanks to Louis Vuitton...

Hopes work settles down, so many changes and new requirements, really abit sian liao... been reallt tired recently, slept more than what i use to sleep... maybe old liao...

X-Men Origins

Hugh Jackman reprises the role that made him a superstar - as the fierce fighting machine who possesses amazing healing powers, retractable claws and a primal fury. Leading up to the events of X-MEN, X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE tells the story of Wolverines epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe whose appearances in the film series have long been anticipated.

Haha, finally watched it... forced Moses and Mingkiat to go watch with me... I quite like the show, quite alot of action, not really a boring moment... well, you can't go wrong with super hero movies, i mean how bad can it go? Besides catwoman which is a flop....
Those who haven watch, go catch it at the big screen...

True meaning of a Type R

The Type R philosophy is not about building the most powerful, or fastest car in the world. It is about creating a car that provides a well-engineered, but exciting driving experience. To offer this, every Type R needs to have certain key characteristics:

Racing:
An exhilarating driving experience similar to that felt when piloting a racing car.

Involvement:
High levels of feedback and involvement in terms of sound, steering response and handling. The driver should feel part of the machine.

Not just speed:
Going fast is part of the Type R experience, but not everything. The Type R should have above average levels of performance in gear change quality, braking, steering and handling.

Pure:
The driving experience should not be diluted or interfered with by driving aids or sound proofing that could detract from the driver’s involvement.

Stripped-out:
A Type R is not equipped with luxuries such as satellite navigation, hands-free telephones or leather upholstery. It should look and feel like a racing car.

Started the run ard 7am after the rain cleared.. weather was terrific, cooling... breezy... started on a slow and comfortable pace, stop to drink for 3 times, this thing bout drinking, everything was well till 23.5km... suddenly totally no strength to continue even for juz another 1.5km... stopped and walked back... even walking back felt dizzy, juz feel like closing my eyes and walk.. damn shag... is this the legendary 'wall'? Wah sian... my wall come so fast meh? 23.5km oni leh... Muzhong was saying not enough carbo in my body liao... i had 1 donut in the morning... shit... shall try again...

Labour Day

Went suntec yesterday to get some adidas running apparels coz sundown participants got 20% off... Grabbed a singlet, a pair of tights (dun even know i will wear anot... but dun worry, you wun catch me in tights only... i sure lup a pair of shorts over it... coz it look damn gay... men in tights... act like robin hood) and a pair of tennis shorts...
We strolled afew rounds ard the fountain terrace thinking of what to eat, finally decided on pizzahut... wah, its the lousiest serviced pizzahut in sg. Super understaff and no sense of urgency... pissing everyone in the restaurant off... Call to take order, never come, call bill oso never come... Q outside getting longer and longer, no one attend to... This kinda service still can find in sg meh?
After dinner, went carrefour to buy some car shampoo... end up buy a bottle of 3m quick wax, a microfiber cloth and claybar...

I chose this turtle wax shampoo coz the green looks nap... haha...
Dunno why i bought the quick wax and claybar... but wat the heck... faster activate car wash kaki for the siong session...

Dad: 你们去洗车啊?
Me: 呀。
Dad: 顺便洗我的。

Wah that makes 2 cars to wash/claybar/quick wax and 1 car to wash... total 3 cars... today really labour day... i and shizhan became bangala ang and bangala huang liao...
After washing so hard... car long time never so clean and shiny liao... muz take photo... haha
