Aviva Open 110609

Its Rd of 16 today at Aviva Open... The day starts at 2.oopm
There's quite afew highly anticipated matches today...

1) Danny Bawa / Yao Lei [Sin] vs Sudket Prapakamol / Saralee Thoungthongkam [Tha]
17-21, 9-21

This match results is already known, with such strong thai opponents, how does singapore stand a chance? First game is a warm up, 2nd game is a thrashing... Danny and Yao Lei totally unable to return the smashes the Sudket throws at them.... He's 1 damn powerful smasher...

2) Nova Widianto / Liliyana Natsir [Ina] vs Anthony Clark / Donna Kellogg [Eng]
21-18, 21-11

Nova Widianto, seeded no.1 mixed double player, together with natsir, they are 1 of the world's best team, consider Clark and Kellogg sway for meeting them so early, but i dun feel sorry for them coz Kellogg has zero sportsmanship... if anyone remembers aviva 2008, kellogg was losing, she tried so many stuns and pattern to show her annoyance, she was awarded a yellow card... I didn't even know badminton got yellow card till last year... I'm glad the Indon duo killed them off...

Nova and Natsir

Clark and Kellogg, look at kellogg's haughty face...

3) Zhou Mi [Hkg] vs Juliane Schenk [Ger]
21-14, 21-17

Zhou Mi, a long time well known female player, as usual with her slow and lazy movements, but gd strokes won Juliane... But this win was lucky that Juliane is not a strong player, she misses alot of chances to kill Zhou Mi off in several occasions. Lets see if Zhou Mi has better luck tomolo. Btw Zhou Mi really needs to start watching her diet...

4) Wang Lin [Chn] vs Hwang Hye Youn [Kor]
21-10, 21-10

Wang Lin, a new face in the china lineup... She's currently seeded no.3 in aviva open... watched her play and she's quite gd... With Zhang Ning (Ex china top female players) coaching her and giving her pointers, Wang Lin has great potential... Hwang has no chance against her at all...

5) Boonsak Ponsana [Tha] vs Simon Santoso [Ina]
21-11, 21-7

A rematch from aviva open 2008, this pair meets once again, with Simon winning Boonsak last year, this year it is payback time... Boonsak played well today, taking both games effortlessly, on the other hand Simon wasn't doin too well today... Maybe boonsak was training juz for revenge... keke

6) Ai Goto [Jpn] vs Xie Xing Fang [Chn]
19-21, 14-21

1st game was a tight game between Ai and Xie, Ai showed great effort, trying for every shot to the extend of performing spilts on various occasions, she recovered from the spilts incredibly fast, she earns the crowd's respect for her never say die attitude, Xie on the other hand didn't seemed really interest in the first game hence the score 19-21, Xie played better in the 2nd game... world top players really seemed arrogant.

Some pics of Xie Xing Fang

7) Xing Aiying [Sin] vs Wang Yihan [Chn]
16-21, 21-8, 7-21

Xing Aiying, singapore's favourite player... Played against china's newcomer Wang Yihan, Xing played well against Wang and lost marginally in the first game. Xing thrashed Wang in the 2nd game, giving hope to singaporeans that there might be a chance Xing might win the match, I sms ambert to tell him Xing thrashed Wang, only to know that wang was the one that won the Danish monster Tina Rassmussen... I sian liao... True enough, Xing lost badly to Wang in the 3rd game, so it might be a cat and mouse game for Wang since the start... But well done Xing Aiying!! Wang is also coached by Zhang Ning... Seems like Zhang Ning is taking charge of all the new female players of china and they are all doing quite well...

Zhang Ning...

Some miscellaneous pics...
Notice this kawaii jap babe - Reiko Shiota, i think she's out liao, never see her today... so sad... look so sweet...

Kunchala Voravichitchaikul, my fav thai female player, from far she looks great.. haha, seemed to put on some weight this year...

The best dressed ladies of the days... hehe

And lastly, my favourite Malaysia men's doubles team:
Chan Choon Ming / Chew Choon Eng, i love watching them play, no matter how tough the game, they are always light hearted and smiling at 1 another... great guys.
