Run @ NUS

Its a long and vexed day, racing with time for both me and my crew to get the ship ready for crap tomorrow. Everyone's been working non-stop and i can see it. Without my great crew, all these wouldn't be possible.
After work, although everyone was maxed out, i still needed to run, Paul, OMP, Zongren, Aston joined me, we ran a new track ---> into NUS... it was a 9km route, with lotsa steep slopes, hilly routes. This run really cleared my mind from work for the duration... A gd run can really haf the effect of de tulaning....

Its was zongren's first run with us, well done to him although he walked a fair bit but everyone still complete it... Bravo Zulu !!!

Distance: 9.21km

Self Check, What are you?

What makes a man successful?

The ability to fulfil any assigned tasks, soaring career, highly appointed, highly paid, self satisfaction, good working relations ?? There are many factors to define success but is a successful man automatically equates to a good leader?
Not necessarily, to be successful, easiest way is to do well in school, get a respectable degree, work smart, get yourself a job with a potential career advancement path, perform well at work, ie complete all assigned tasks, good showmanship to superior, don't commit any major mistakes (which includes defying superiors even though you think its crap). Follow these guidelines and generally you shd mostly probably be on the right path to career success unless you have a face that invites beating...

What makes a good leader?

A good leader on the other hand, might not be as successful as those who pursues the road to pure success. A leader, leads... mainly believes in a set of principles, ability to lead his team and in turn gain respect and acknowledgment from his team. These qualities don't come by default. Its a recognition that is presented to the leader by his team over time through the many thick and thin, how the leader manages crisis, how important does his team mean to him. Note this: "how important does his team mean to him" Personally for me, i believe strongly that this is the main factor the makes or break leadership. You can have your set of principles and stick to them bluntly, you can have lousy inter-personal relation skills, you don't have to suck up to your superior, and of course you will need to achieve the level of skills that you, at your level would be required of. Paramount to all these, one must sincerely put the welfare of his team as priority. No matter how sucky a person you can be, as long as the team senses that you care... time will resolve any resentment that arises initially. Over time, a good leader will gain a closely knitted and efficient crew(as morale works wonder), friends and sense of achievement.

What will you choose?

There's a new breed surfacing in the recent decade known as "Elites", these breed are normally highly educated, extremely self opinionated and proud insects. These insects normally operates not by experience but by knowledge obtained by their countless years of studies, theories, formulaes, visualisation and CRAP. CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP !!!!
To them, no one matters, as long as the high and mighty "ME" thinks this can work, it shall work, does my men's opinion matters to "ME"? erm.... nope... i don't think so. If they were so smart, why am i higher qualified? So am i straining the team with all these additional implementations and whatever i ideas that i come up with? ermmm..... nope, don't care i don't feel its straining them till max. OF COZ NOT YOU MORON!!! YOU DAMN ELITES ARE NOT THE ONE DOING IT!!! Better pray the world forever revolves blindly around paper qualifications or 1 day you will find yourselves reaping what you sow for being empty vessels.

So back to the question, being successful or being a good leader, what will you choose?

Last came back from sailing yesterday morning, it was raining since wee hours, still raining when i kept watch at 4am, still raining when we go alongside, still raining when i reach home... a total weather made for snoozing... so that's exactly wat i did....
After i woke up in the evening, still feel nua... so didn't felt like goin shopping with my family, chose to stay home and felt soooo lazy even to go out for dinner... thats how pizza hut became dinner.

Surf the web, saw the X'mas fun meal, looks interesting and attracting, delicious etc etc... so decided to order a set... This is how it look like on the web...

And this is how it look like in reality... not really as nice as i thought it to be... after eating 2 slices, abit sick of it liao.... and it didn't help that i'm not actually a pizzahut person.... haha. Advertisements... they really do miracles, don't they.

Sunday Morning @ WCP

Its a sunday morning, planned for my regular run at WCP, Jess suggest bringing the gals there for cycling and blowing bubbles while we take turns to run... so... we did juz that. Guess the gals were enjoying themselves.
Sundays at WCP are really starting to get crowded, with ppl jogging, blading, cycling, walking their dogs, jap guys playing baseball in the field, couples laba-ing along the breakwater, photography hobbists looking for "The Shot", and some boliao ppl camping and bbq-ing at this hour...
The Macdonald's business is always roaring on sundays... WCP has really evolved over the years...

Here are the pics of ourselves only....

Congrats to Terence

Congrats to Terence and Charmaine for your big day.

Juz came back from attending terence's wedding. Was activated last min as a 'brother' last night, reported for duty this morning at 6.25am... everyone was more or last punctual... maybe all never join car clubs to inherit the bad habits... haha
Went thru all the usual "fetch the wife tekan session", this round at least better, nuthin humiliating like some previous ones i attended. 1 of the sisters is actually Joey Feng, 2nd runner up for Miss Singapore and "Jinfeng" from 黄金路. She looks.... juz like on tv but she does look young, or am i old...

At the banquet, not many ppl i know, except for my 2 long lost friends...

Tay koon loon aka Big Head, my predeccessor who handed over the 'buffer' to me, now a tug master, funny and easy going chap...

My dear batch girl since JRC, Priscilia aka ah lian, her foul mouth can fight with mine... haha, use to fatten me during JRC stuffing me with plenty of food, happening gal, use to mambo queen... Ppl i usually get along are ironically the more quarrelsome ones and she's definately one of them. But she's demure tonight for a change. HAH

I actually love attending weddings, get to met alot of old friends that we dun really plan for meetups, and with the right crowd, weddings are fun....

Brought Jess cycling today!!! Finally after a few years, she finally fulfilled her desire to cycle... Ever since we had kids, many things were no longer possible to be able to "Just Do It". Many factors to be considered...
But since its her birthday today, dun care... juz chuck the kids aside and celebrate... Jess didn't know i was bringing her cycling till we are on our way to ECP... You can really tell that she hasn't cycled for ages... wobbling the moment she mounted the bike. HAHAHA... noooooob....
We cycled 20km, from fort rd to NSRCC and back... longest she ever cycled, Jess said. Well here are afew happy pics of her...
